Funding Advice

BCVS supports an e-network, Bournemouth and Poole Funding Opportunities Group which sends out a regular newsletter called What Funds which contains funding opportunities and other e-mails about funding opportunities. To register for this group go to the E-alert page and look at the BPFOG section or e-mail us.

The following web-based funding research tool provides information and links to several funding resources. To access this service please click on the following link which will open in a new window:- Bournemouth 4 Community which provides information on coverage of government, lottery, EU, non-government and charitable trust funding opportunities. The funding portal gives access to:

Local information, support and contact details to help your organisation meet it's potential
National news bulletins on changes to funding schemes

Other sources of advice
Bournemouth Borough Council has staff that can offer one to one advice on funding from foundations and trusts. The contact is Linda Maguire, Principal Community Development Officer on 01202 451165.

If your organisation operates in Dorset another organisation, Dorset Community Action  provides a funding advice service.

Support and advice on 'in-kind' funding
Most of the sector depends a lot on volunteers. BCVS operates the Bournemouth Volunteer Centre that can:
- advertise your vacancies
- put volunteers in touch with you
- provide you with advice on good practice in recruiting and managing volunteers.

BCVS regularly gets offers of equipment and materials to be donated to the voluntary sector. These offers are sent out by e-mail. To make sure you get to hear about these then sign up for the General Information Forum.

For IT if you are a charity then there is a useful one stop website, CTX, selling the latest software including Microsoft, Symantec, Adobe and others at much reduced prices.
