Bournemouth Young Volunteers Award

The Bournemouth Young Volunteer Award Scheme is a local initiative launched by Bournemouth CVS, Bournemouth 2026 Trust and Bournemouth Integrated Youth Service to recognise the valuable contribution made by young people volunteering within the local community. Young people must be aged between 13 and 21, and either living or volunteering in Bournemouth to be eligible for the Award Scheme.

Certificates are awarded when young people take part in one off events or accumulate 20, 50, 100, 150 hours of volunteering and so forth in increments of 50 hours. Young people are asked to keep a simple record of hours that are verified by their youth leader to be eligible for an award.

Since its launch in August 2013, the Bournemouth Young Volunteer Award Scheme has issued over 1050 certificates to young people, recognising over 35,000 hours of volunteering between them. One of the young leaders taking part said "It was great to be able to present an award to Hannah in recognition of her volunteering at Connect 13. She does so much as a young volunteer and it was wonderful to show her how much she is appreciated".

If you have any young people between the ages of 13-21 volunteering with your project/group/organisation and would like to hear more about how you can recognise their volunteering then please email us at and we will send you all the information you need to start celebrating the work of your young volunteers.
